My Affordable 10-minute makeup routine!

I love all things beauty and makeup, but if you’re like me sometimes you can get overwhelmed with ALL the products, brands, shades, and prices of everything out there. So that’s why I wanted to create this blog for you to get a good idea of quality yet affordable makeup, and share with you my routine of how I use them all! All products will be linked down below!

I think of my makeup in four stages:

Face

Eyes

Eyebrows

Lips

Here’s the breakdown of the products I use & how I use them! My everyday routine takes me about ten minutes. This simple look makes me feel pretty, it’s such a natural look, and can be easily dressed up even more with just a few more touches of makeup!

Face

I always start with applying my face moisturizer; this helps soothe dry skin, it also leaves my face feeling refreshed and even. After the moisturizer has soaked in I go in with my face and eye primers. This step is important for evening your skin tone and helping your makeup stay on all day.

I then apply my foundation or what I like to use is a BB cream. I use the Covergirl Clean Matte BB Cream (shade 530 in paler months and 540 in the warmer months) with my Beauty Blender all over my face and blending it down my neck so you don’t have any harsh lines. The reason why I use BB cream instead of a foundation is that to me it has great coverage without it feeling too cakey on your skin, and leaving you with a nice natural look.

Then I go in with my concealer, Maybelline Age rewind. I use the opposite side of the beauty blender to apply it under my eyes, and any blemishes I may have. The further away from just under your eyes you can get the better you can blend it in, and the less you end up looking like a raccoon. Try and blend it down towards your cheeks and even onto your nose!

Bronzer & Blush

Bronzer is next, and this Revolution Mega Bronzer is the best! It is super pigmented and gives a great color. I like to make a kissing fish face and do a few swipes under my cheekbone, down either side of my nose, and around my hairline. In the summer months, I’ll go down my neck a little for more of a blended look. Make sure to keep the bronzer light, don’t go overboard like “Jersey Shores” with it. It can be easy to do!

I love the Maybelline Fit Me Blush in Pink – it gives a nice natural POP of color and sunkissed look! Apply this to my cheekbones, the bridge of my nose, and a little swipe on the forehead.

Highlighter

I’ve searched high and low for the best drugstore highlighter and this $3 E.L.F Cosmetics pressed highlighter is about as good as it gets. I mean, three dollars people! I’ve had it for probably two months and barely even made a dent. It can go on dry or you can wet your finger or a brush and apply that way, either way, it is perfect for a slight shimmer on your cheekbones and down your nose. I also use this, mixed with bronzer, as my eyeshadow for a little sparkle.

Overall my face takes about 2 minutes. On to eyes!

Eyes

Eyes are the quickest and easiest part of my makeup routine! I go in with the E.L.F. Cosmetics Matte Eyeshadow Palette in Nude Mood. I use the natural skin tone color and brush all over my lids. Then I go in with a slightly darker shade, and use that for the crease starting in the outer corner and blending it across my lids. Finishing with the highlighter on the inner corners. This gives you more of an awake look.

The Loreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara has been my absolute go-to!

It goes on so smooth and even and I love that you can layer it if you are wanting a more dramatic look. I definitely focus on my upper lashes, then give the lower lashes a little love too!

Brows

It’s a wonder that something so small can make such a BIG impact on what someones face looks like, but it’s so true, brows really do make all the difference. Let’s forget about the scary middle school years of over-plucking and bad nail salon waxes, and look forward to the future of brows: fuller, filled in, and more natural.

Products and techniques change so much in brow world it’s hard to keep up. I suggest trying a few things out and finding what works best for you. Personally, I like to go for a natural yet clean look.

Using Maybelline’s Brow Ultra Slim Defining pencil I basically just create a line along the bottom of each brow hairline and the top and use the spooley to blend it in. Then using small flecks I can fill in my brows and make them as natural or as dark as I desire. A more affordable option and one I use as well is the E.L.F. Instant Lift Pencil.

For keeping those hairs in place I go in with the Great Lash Clear Mascara, brush upwards and out, giving them a feathery and full look.

Lips

Finishing off with Lips! This really all depends on what I have planned for the day, but I’ll either just use Vaseline Petroleum Jelly, and leave it at that, or for more of a finished look, ill use the NYX Slim Lip Pencil to line the outer parts of my lips.

Affordable 10 minute makeup routine

Overall my makeup routine is really fast, easy, and most of all affordable! Just like any other routine we get into, makeup can be one that you learn how to do and becomes second nature. I definitely don’t consider myself a makeup artist or guru, but I enjoy putting it on every day and find it fun! I also think it’s important to figure out what works for your skin, so when it’s time to buy makeup again you have a base of knowledge for what you’re buying and what you need. If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment down below! And tell me if you try anything out & what you think!

Xoxo, Jess
